A week or so ago, whilst writing up a SomeOne new release, our rhetoric included the line ‘another week, another SomeOne launch‘. I said that in jest, at the time. But here we are, literally, another week and, yes, another big SomeOne launch (and it’s only Monday). So, come fly with SomeOne and behold, their latest endowment to the world – Stelios-backed low-cost African airline FastJet, who launch their maiden flights from east Africa at the end of November.
The strategic new identity that features an African Grey parrot, has been applied across all primary branded surfaces — from the plane livery to staff uniforms. But why a parrot? (Who doesn’t love a good parrot?) Not just any pretty polly, an African Grey pretty polly – widely considered to be one of the most intelligent birds on the planet and known in African mythology for having the ‘kindest and most generous heart’, furthermore, is commonly kept as a family pet and are deeply loved by African people. All perfect connections for Africa’s newest and ‘smarter’ way to travel.
SomeOne’s Co-Founder and Executive Creative Director, Simon Manchipp said, “An airline is one the best opportunities to deploy our BrandWorld thinking — the team at FastJet immediately saw the potential in launching with a wider reaching range of Brand assets from day one. Colours, logo’s, patterns, typefaces, systems, sounds, films, animations, music and of course the new spokes creature — the African Grey — all these create a smart, cohesive brand launch with a strong story at it’s heart.”
