Design-thinking for councils

Awesome agencies / Design

Creative problem solving can be mistakenly labeled as being a gift accessible only to a few selected individuals. The idea that you have to gained spiritual enlightenment or trained for years under a master when in really, it’s all about allowing yourself to look at things from a different perspective. The principles of this can often be furiously guarded by an agency as a way of extracting more money out of a client. As designers we require the client […]

Respecting the neighbourhood

Awesome agencies / Branding

Keeping a keen eye on its surrounds, A Friend of Mine have lovingly crafted a honest and raw identity which draws on its surrounding history. Embla is Christian McCabe’s (of The Town Mouse) new low-key wine bar / restaurant based in Melbourne’s inner city. A Friend of Mine crafted a down-to-earth brand identity, centred around a custom typeface based on neighbouring hand painted vintage signage to reference it’s contextual surrounds, alongside a textured torn paper collage to […]

Glitter and croissants from A Friend of Mine

News

Croissant inspired rockets, subtle usage of glitter and packaging  designed with  ‘hyperdrive’ ventilation slots — what’s not to like about this project! Melbourne studio A Friend of Mine (AFOM) must of had a ridiculous amount of pleasure working on the branding for Lune Croissanterie. Container branding goes global {Nicknack}

News

Our friends over at Adelaide based Nicknack have been rather quiet of late, and we recently found out why, they’ve been busy scooping up international gongs that’s why! To be more specific, Nicknack‘s work for transport and logistics company SFC did the scooping over at the 2013 Rebrand 100 awards. In their own words, Nicknack describe the challenge… “Although SCF Group had grown into a leading organisation within the Australian Transport & Logistics sector, customers […]

Zebra romance the stone

News

More handsome new work from Perth’s Zebra ~ this time much more clinical and understated than the last treat we featured (Moodmakr) ~ Gem Bar is a contemporary, boutique bar in Singapore that needed a refresh of their visual identity to reflect a recent renovation. The new interior design theme had an industrial, warehouse feel to it and the graphic elements took cues from there. Zebra developed the logo as well as the associated branded items, […]
